A jungle hell prison set in some unknown banana republic, scantily clad yet tough women prisoners, shower scenes, mud wresting, torture, the sadistic warden, action oriented escapes; it’s all here. Though films like Jesus Franco’s 99 WOMEN and Lee Frost’s LOVE CAMP 7 (both 1969) helped kick the sub genre into gear, it was THE BIG DOLL HOUSE that took it to the level of high camp and inspired all of the WIP films that followed.
